Daily Inspection

Users should check the skid steer loader immediately after working. It is good to do a thorough cleaning, because it will be easy for users to see the potential problems. All manufacturers provide some maintenance schedules, including daily, weekly, monthly and annual machine maintenance for each skid steer loader.  These maintenance schedules are very important, however, they are often ignored by users.

Routine Check

Before starting the engine, users must do routine check: 1. Check leakages; 2. Check tire conditions and pressure; 3. Check worn, damaged or missing parts; 4. Check the machine, especially the radiator and engine and ensure that they are clean without any debris; 5. Clean or replace safety signs; 6. Clean safety tread, grab handrail and cab, and remove any loose objects in the cab; 7. Refer to the maintenance & lubrication chart and complete all items before working.

Cab

Skid steer loader cab is with roll-over protective structures (ROPS) and Falling Object Protective Structures (FOPS); these structures are important to ensure that users are able to avoid any danger that may be encountered when driving a skid steer loader. Users should often check ROPS and FOPS dents and cracks, and also note that these structures should not be welding, grinding and drilling when the machine has been modified, otherwise it will cause serious security incidents.

Lubrication

Lubrication is very essential maintenance for a skid steer loader; for the boom, each pin joint, lubrication should be carried out every day.

Tires

Users need to regularly check tire wear, damage and pressure; this can significantly extend the life of the tires.

1.) Clean tires

Keep the skid steer loader tire clean will be more convenient for various tests, and check tire rubber with or without bubbles, cracks, and bumps.

2.) Check the tread

Quick observation can also check the uneven wear of the tires.  Tire wear depends on how the users operate the skid steer loader; If users find uneven tire wear, users should consider replacing the tire position or adjust their operation, to effectively extend tire life.

3.) Keep four tires on the ground while working

Keeping four tires on the ground will reduce the wear on the tires; when the bucket is far away from the loader, the front tires may be slightly off the ground, and this will give a larger pressure to the rear tires, thus it can lead to uneven wear.

4.) Keep working on the ground, not on the road

The tires of skid steer loader are designed to run on the ground rather than the road; Keeping a skid steer loader traveling non-stop on the road may exacerbate wear.

5.) Pay attention to the debris

The work area is often filled with debris; the driver needs to drive carefully, to avoid any puncture.

6.) Correct storage

If a skid steer loader is often exposed to the sun, it may reduce the tire life; all tires and the machine should be stored in a cool, dry place.
